President Trump has authorized the deployment of a small number of American troops to Southern Yemen in an attempt to drive Al-Qaeda out of the region. The American troops will fight alongside a Yemeni tribal group called the Shabwami forces and the U.A.E. in the Shabwa province located in the Arabian Peninsula.
In March, Trump introduced legislation that declared parts of Yemen as “temporary battlefields” which allows for the deployment of U.S. troops for six-month periods without congressional permission or oversight. If Trump is not willing to ask a majority Republican led Congress for approval to send troops abroad, it says something about his decision making.
