Due to a dispute between the government and President Trump’s company, the Secret Service will vacate its command post inside the Trump Tower in NYC and will set up their headquarters on the sidewalk outside. The disputes were over the cost of security and the conditions of their lease. The Secret Service’s presence in Trump Tower is a costly affair, due to the tower’s proximity to the public.
Roughly $120 million has been set aside by Congress to cover the cost of protecting the president, which includes $60 million for the Secret Service at the Trump Tower in NYC and $60 million for Trump’s trips to Mar-A-Lago in Florida. Democrats including Congressman Ted Lieu (D-CA) have introduced a bill that would require Trump to
reimburse the government for public money spent on his travel to properties he owns. They have a point, why should the American people pay for Trump to eat steaks and golf at his own properties? Thats just un-American. Source: Washington Post
