President Trump has picked Jamie McCourt to be the U.S. ambassador to France and Monaco. McCourt and her ex-husband Frank McCourt had vast holdings in Boston’s Seaport district and the two were co-owners of the Los Angeles Dodgers. The McCourts were one of the first investors in the Seaport District and helped turn 24 aces of parking lots and empty land into a bustling new commercial neighborhood.
The White House commented on McCourt’s business background in a statement, “McCourt possesses a unique global perspective, having lived and worked both domestically and abroad in various industries —sports, law, finance, education, and real estate.” McCourt will be faced with the difficult task of mending a long held relationship between France and the U.S.
