WikiLeaks has published more than 70,000 of French President Emmanuel Macron’s campaign emails on Monday. The leak did not provide any bombshell information about his campaign, but speaks more to the lack of cyber security among political campaigns and other organizations.
Just days before the election in France, the Macron campaign issued a statement claiming it had been the victim of a major hacking operation in which thousands of emails and other internal communications were made public. Democracy is hindered when WikiLeaks and other hackers try to reveal things that should not be thrust into the public domain, and is an issue that needs to be addressed by the international community.
