Afghan security forces fought gunmen following a suicide attack outside the Iraqi embassy in the capital city of Kabul. A bomber blew himself up in front of the embassy’s gates, then three other gunmen entered the compound. Two Iraqi embassy employees were killed and three people including a police officer were injured. This is the first attack on the city’s Iraqi embassy and is just two weeks after the embassy held a news conference celebrating the defeat of ISIS in the Iraqi city of Mosul.
Afghanistan has been victim to countless number of terrorist attacks including attacks from ISIS and the Taliban. Since the beginning of the year, 1,662 civilians have been killed by terrorist attacks in Afghanistan.
